Wellbeing at OWLS Academy Trust

At OWLS Academy Trust, we believe that the wellbeing of our pupils, parents, staff, and community is fundamental to their success and happiness. We actively promote a holistic approach that encompasses physical, mental, and emotional health, ensuring that every pupil feels safe, valued, and empowered.

Our Commitment to Wellbeing

As an academy, we are guided by the OFSTED inspection framework and are committed to upholding the five key aspects of wellbeing defined by the Children Act 2004:

  • Physical and Mental Health: We prioritise the physical and mental health of our pupils, providing resources and support to help them thrive. Visit our Physical Wellbeing and Mental Health pages to learn more.
  • Protection from Harm: Our safeguarding policies are robust, ensuring that pupils are protected from harm and neglect. You can find our Safeguarding information on our website.
  • Education and Recreation: We offer a balanced curriculum that includes opportunities for education, training, and recreational activities, fostering a love for learning. Explore our Curriculum and Enrichment pages to learn more.
  • Contribution to Society: We encourage pupils to engage with their community, promoting social responsibility and active citizenship. Visit our Community Engagement page to see how our pupils get involved.
  • Social and Economic Wellbeing: We support pupils in developing the skills and knowledge necessary for their future success, including career guidance and life skills. Check out our Careers and Life Skills section.

We offer different levels of support:

Universal Support- To meet the needs of all our pupils through our overall ethos and our wider curriculum. For instance, developing resilience for all.

Additional support- For those who may have short-term needs and those who may have been made vulnerable by life experiences such as bereavement.

Targeted support-  For pupils who need more differentiated support and resources or specific targeted interventions such as wellbeing groups or personal mentors.
